A rain garden is a planted depression that allows rainwater runoff from areas like roofs and driveways to be absorbed by the soil or evaporated back into the air. This reduces runoff by allowing stormwater to soak into the ground or return to the atmosphere as opposed to flowing into storm drains and surface waters.
