The Hancock County Government Annex building is closed from Monday, June 29th until Friday, July 3rd to the public except by appointment only. The COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has caused widespread disruption throughout the world and at home. I believe it is our role and responsibility to continue providing essential government services while implementing preventative measures to ensure the health of the public and our employees during this time. For the fastest service I encourage members of the public to submit their inquiries to our office via email. Please reference the list below of Assessor deputies available to help you with any assessment related issue you may have.

At this time, longer than normal wait times may occur as a result of the precautions for unnecessary exposure and social distancing practices are in place.

The deadline for filing a Form 136, Application for Property Tax Exemption, has been extended from April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

The Primary Functions of the County Assessor’s Office are:

  1. Assessment of Real Property for Blue River, Brandywine, Brown, Buck Creek, Center, Green, Jackson, Vernon and Sugar Creek Townships.
  2. Real Estate & Personal Property Appeals.
  3. Non-taxable exemptions.
  4. Secretary to the Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals.
  5. Assessment of All Farmers and Business Personal Property -All forms to be mailed to the County Assessor.
